Minoh Unveiled: Waterfalls, Temples, and Craft Beer Adventures

For this week's blog I delve into one of my many craft beer adventures in Minoh Park, a hidden gem near Osaka City. Join me as I uncover the beauty of Minoh's waterfall, immerse myself in the serenity of its temples, and indulge in the flavors of craft beer that await me along the way.

Before ascending the mountain, you'll find Higuchi Liquor Shop , an off-the-beaten-path destination for beer enthusiasts. Whether you prefer bottled beer or draft beer served from taps adorned with deer antler handles, this shop offers a wide selection of Minoh beer. If you're feeling adventurous, explore their sake offerings as well..

Minoh Beer's playful logos feature different Maccas holding various beer styles, reflecting the brewery's creativity and love for craft beer. Names like Osaru IPA, Bosuzaru IPA, and Kozaru IPA add a playful touch to the lineup. After we enjoyed a couple beers at Higuchi Liquor Shop. We grabbed a few bottles to go so we could enjoy another round at the end of our hike.

Along the path to the falls, there are charming shops, cafes, and restaurants that offer a taste of Minoh's culinary wonders. Many of these establishments proudly serve Minoh Beer, allowing tourist and locals alike to enjoy a refreshing brew while immersing themselves in the beauty of their surroundings. There is also yatai, traditional Japanese food carts, offering tempting snacks like Taiyaki and Takoyaki. I always make it a point to grab a custard filled Taiyaki, which pairs beautifully with Minoh's Stout.

A noteworthy café is Franc et elegant YUZUYA is a French-inspired café nestled in a beautifully refurbished wooden building. With a deck overlooking the creek, it offers a serene ambiance. Indulge in yuzu-infused desserts and drinks, showcasing the unique citrus flavor of Japan's beloved yuzu fruit.

Minoh isn't just about nature and beer; it's also rich in cultural heritage. We explored the Buddhist temples, including the awe-inspiring Ryuan-ji Temple, adorned with a vibrant red bridge that leads us to its entrance. The tranquility and architectural beauty of these temples provide a serene setting for reflection and appreciation.

Witness the beauty of Minoh Falls throughout the seasons. Spring brings cheery blossoms, while autumn showcases the stunning Momiji maple leaves. Don't miss the opportunity to try Momiji tempura, a unique culinary delight that also pairs well with the Minoh Stout beer.

Keep your camera at the ready because you never know when you can get a chance to capture the playful antics of the mischievous monkeys that roam around the park. You may get the opportunity to witness their natural charm and curiosity up close during your visit to Minoh Park. I snapped a photo of this one right before it stole a sandwich.
